Acerinox reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter operating earnings on Friday, October 30, 2026, as demand in the United States supported the Spanish stainless steel producer despite weaker conditions in Europe. The company reported adjusted EBITDA of 199 million euros for the quarter, compared with analyst expectations of 184 million euros, according to Investing.com, which cited Reuters.
US demand offsets European weakness
Third-quarter adjusted EBITDA also improved from 176 million euros in the second quarter. Stainless steel consumption in the United States rose 6 percent from the previous quarter, while US imports fell 18 percent year on year and inventories declined 9 percent.
European demand moved in the opposite direction, falling 22 percent from the second quarter as seasonal factors and restocking after the second-quarter peak weighed on activity. Acerinox said positive policy developments could emerge in Europe in early 2027, offering a potential support for the regional market.
The high-performance-alloys business produced mixed regional results. US aerospace demand remained solid, while European demand from the oil and gas and chemical-process industries showed modest improvement. The company said the conflict in the Middle East reduced third-quarter earnings by 16 million euros and cut earnings by 24 million euros in the first nine months.
Cash flow and fourth-quarter outlook
Acerinox recorded negative free cash flow of 96 million euros in the quarter. Working-capital outflows reached 152 million euros as business activity and raw-material costs increased, while capital expenditure amounted to 80 million euros. The company paid 77 million euros in dividends, equivalent to 0.31 euros per share, during the quarter.
EBITDA for the first nine months reached 470 million euros. For the fourth quarter, Acerinox expects lower stainless steel volumes because of the usual year-end seasonality in the United States. Aerospace demand is expected to remain consistent, while the company sees positive indicators in European oil and gas and chemical-process markets. Management also expects working-capital releases to reduce net debt by year-end.
