- Citi sees greater downside risk to Adobe's fiscal 2027 growth expectations.
- Incoming CEO Anil Chakravarthy will take over during a leadership transition with key vacancies.
- The next quarterly outlook will test AI adoption, recurring revenue and pricing power in Creative.
Adobe stock faces fresh pressure after Citi downgraded the software company to Sell from Neutral and cut its price target to USD 207 from USD 250. CNBC reported that the bank sees downside risk to consensus growth estimates into fiscal 2027 as Adobe prepares for a leadership transition and faces intensifying competition from artificial intelligence software.
Leadership transition raises risk
According to CNBC, Citi analyst Tyler Radke said incoming CEO Anil Chakravarthy will take the position in December while key leadership roles remain vacant. Citi expects strategic changes in Adobe's Creative business could support a more sustainable base over time but weigh on near-term growth.
The bank also points to rising competition from AI-integrated services and macroeconomic uncertainty. A stronger focus on monthly active user growth could put pressure on annual recurring revenue as Adobe relies less on price increases and directs new users toward lower-priced offerings.
Quote moves above earlier report
Adobe stock traded at 227.25 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:02 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 3.13 percent above the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The quote was 5.10 percent above the 216.23-euro level reported at 13:30 CET in the earlier Citi downgrade report.
Citi expects Adobe's annual recurring revenue to grow at roughly 5 percent year over year through fiscal 2028, between 200 and 300 basis points below consensus, according to CNBC. The bank also sees AI inference costs weighing on profitability before monetization fully catches up.
