- Third-quarter sales rose to EUR 23.1 billion at constant exchange rates.
- The October cyber incident is expected to reduce fourth-quarter sales and operating income.
- Management lowered its earnings and free cash flow outlook while announcing a 2027 buyback.
Ahold Delhaize reported resilient third-quarter results on Wednesday, November 4, but lowered parts of its 2026 outlook after an October cybersecurity incident. The company said the disruption affected online capabilities in the Benelux and the United States, as well as Benelux supply-chain operations. The results release is available on the Ahold Delhaize investor relations page.
Resilient quarter, weaker outlook
Third-quarter sales reached EUR 23.1 billion, up 1.9 percent at constant exchange rates. The underlying operating margin was 4.1 percent, and diluted underlying earnings per share increased 1.4 percent at constant exchange rates to EUR 0.69.
The cyber incident is expected to reduce fourth-quarter sales by EUR 200 million to EUR 250 million. Underlying and IFRS operating income are expected to take a EUR 75 million to EUR 100 million hit, while additional response and remediation costs should have only a marginal effect on 2026 IFRS operating income.
Guidance reset and capital return
Management now expects diluted underlying earnings-per-share growth in the low single digits at constant exchange rates, compared with its previous mid- to high-single-digit outlook. Free cash flow is expected at EUR 2.1 billion, below the earlier target of at least EUR 2.3 billion.
Ahold Delhaize also announced a EUR 1 billion share buyback scheduled to start at the beginning of 2027. For investors, the release leaves operational resilience and the pace of recovery from the cyber disruption as the main near-term issues.
