- Air Liquide reported accelerating volume growth in Electronics and Industrial Merchant during the third quarter.
- Management reaffirmed its 2026 margin and recurring-profit outlook.
- The company is investing heavily in semiconductor capacity and launched the first tranche of its broader buyback program.
Air Liquide reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of 7.26 billion euros for the period ended September 30, with comparable sales growth of 3 percent. Gasworld reported that the French industrial gases group also delivered 12 percent growth in Electronics, supported by semiconductor demand linked to artificial intelligence.
Revenue rose 10 percent on a reported basis and 4.3 percent excluding currency and energy effects. Gas & Services grew 3.6 percent on a comparable basis, while Industrial Merchant sales increased 5.3 percent. The results exceeded the 7.16 billion euro average forecast cited by Vara Research.
Electronics Leads Operating Momentum
Chief Executive François Jackow said volume growth accelerated in Electronics and Industrial Merchant and exceeded the contribution from pricing. He also cautioned that market conditions remained volatile, keeping execution and demand in key end markets central to the investment case.
Air Liquide made investment decisions worth 1.25 billion euros during the quarter, taking the nine-month total above 4.1 billion euros. Its investment backlog reached a record 6.2 billion euros, while accumulated efficiencies stood at 441 million euros through September, according to Gasworld.
Capital Returns Add A Second Driver
Alongside the quarterly update, Air Liquide launched the first 1 billion euro tranche of a 4 billion euro share buyback program. The first tranche is scheduled for completion by the end of December 2026, while the wider program runs through the end of 2028 under the BEYOND strategy.
The company reaffirmed its confidence in increasing its operating margin by 100 basis points in 2026 and delivering recurring net profit growth at constant exchange rates. BEYOND also targets average annual sales growth of 5 percent and a 400 to 600 basis point operating-margin improvement through 2030, with more than 40 billion euros of planned capital allocation over the period.
