- Third-quarter revenue growth accelerated across established and expansion markets.
- Management lifted its full-year revenue-growth and adjusted EBITDA margin outlook.
- A new share repurchase authorization adds up to 12 billion US dollars to Airbnb's capital-return plans.
Airbnb reported its third-quarter 2026 results after the US market close on Thursday, November 5, with revenue growth accelerating across its marketplace. The company said in its Q3 results release that revenue rose 19 percent year over year to 4.9 billion US dollars, the fastest growth in more than three years.
Gross booking value increased 21 percent to 27.7 billion US dollars, while Nights and Seats Booked grew 16 percent. Airbnb said every region delivered double-digit nights growth, and North America recorded its fastest nights growth in four years. First-time booker growth accelerated to 13 percent year over year, the highest level since early 2022.
Bookings and margins strengthen
The operating improvement reached the bottom line. Net income was 1.9 billion US dollars, while adjusted EBITDA rose 22 percent to 2.5 billion US dollars. The adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 52 percent, supported by stronger top-line growth and operating leverage.
Airbnb pointed to a broad set of product and operating changes rather than a single growth driver. The company shipped more than 50 products and features during the quarter, including tools for trip planning, neighborhood discovery and host listing management. Its artificial-intelligence assistant resolved about 40 percent of customer-support issues without a human agent, and customer-support cost per booking declined more than 17 percent year over year.
Higher outlook, wider capital returns
Management raised its full-year 2026 outlook for both revenue growth and adjusted EBITDA margin. Airbnb now expects revenue growth in the high teens and an adjusted EBITDA margin of approximately 36 percent for the year.
For the fourth quarter, Airbnb expects revenue of 3.22 billion to 3.28 billion US dollars, representing year-over-year growth of 16 percent to 18 percent. Gross booking value is expected to grow in the mid-teens, with at least low-double-digit growth in Nights and Seats Booked and a modest increase in average daily rate. The company expects fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA to rise year over year, although the margin is expected to decline slightly because of marketing-spending timing.
The board also authorized the repurchase of up to an additional 12 billion US dollars of Class A common stock. Airbnb said the authorization reflects confidence in its growth prospects and adds to the company's existing capital-return capacity.
New products broaden the runway
Airbnb is expanding beyond its core homes marketplace. Hotels are available across more than 60 destinations, while services such as car rentals, grocery delivery and destination-specific offerings are being developed to attract more guests and increase engagement. The company said hotel nights still represent a single-digit share of total nights, but hotel customers can become users of its homes business.
Airbnb also plans to begin rolling out its own AI travel agent to guests in the first half of 2027. The planned product is intended to help users discover, compare and book homes, hotels, services and experiences within Airbnb's platform.
