- AkzoNobel kept its 2026 adjusted EBITDA outlook unchanged after third-quarter profitability improved.
- The proposed combination with Axalta remains aimed at an early 2027 closing as regulatory work continues.
- Higher pricing and cost controls supported earnings despite weaker volumes in several markets.
AkzoNobel's third-quarter update remained the central company development for investors during the week ended Friday, October 30. In a Reuters report published by Euronext on Wednesday, October 21, the paints and coatings group confirmed its 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance and said the proposed Axalta merger was expected to close in early 2027.
Adjusted EBITDA rose 0.8 percent year on year to EUR 388 million, ahead of the company-provided analyst consensus of EUR 387 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin widened to 15.3 percent from 15.1 percent, with higher prices and cost-cutting measures supporting profitability while market conditions remained challenging. Reuters reported that the company maintained its 2026 adjusted EBITDA target of EUR 1.47 billion.
Merger execution remains in focus
The Axalta transaction remains the main strategic issue for the combined group. AkzoNobel CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume described the USD 25 billion merger as firmly on track, with regulatory approvals advancing and completion expected in early 2027. The companies have offered remedies in an effort to secure European Union antitrust approval.
The earnings picture was mixed beneath the margin improvement. AkzoNobel reported organic sales growth, but lower volumes in parts of the business continued to weigh on the operating backdrop. For investors, the unchanged outlook places greater emphasis on pricing discipline, savings delivery and the timetable for the proposed combination.
AkzoNobel stock traded at 59.32 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:38 CET on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The real-time quote of AkzoNobel stock is available for ongoing monitoring.
