Alibaba Cloud launched its first public cloud region in the Netherlands on October 29, 2026, opening two data centers in Amsterdam. The company said the expansion responds to European demand for cloud and artificial-intelligence services, according to the Alibaba Cloud release.
Amsterdam adds local capacity
The Netherlands is Alibaba Cloud's fourth European region after Germany, the United Kingdom and France. The new location is designed to give European customers in-region data residency, lower latency and additional disaster-recovery capacity.
The region supports elastic computing, storage, containers, networking, big data, security, databases and cloud-native services. Alibaba Cloud also plans to bring agentic artificial-intelligence services to the region, including Agent Security Center, AI Security Guardrails 2.0 and Agentic SOC.
What does the expansion add?
Alibaba Cloud said the Amsterdam launch expands its global infrastructure to 109 availability zones across 32 regions. The company also unveiled the latest generation of Apsara Stack at the Amsterdam conference, offering more than 80 cloud and artificial-intelligence products for public-sector and enterprise workloads.
Apsara Stack's operating accuracy reached 92.5 percent and its automation rate reached 70 percent, according to the same Alibaba Cloud release. The figures give investors a concrete measure of the platform's operating claims, although the release does not quantify revenue from the new region.
