- SpaceX committed to a master finance lease for Nvidia Vera Rubin chips and related equipment.
- Apollo and Goldman Sachs lead the financing, with BlackRock, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and KKR providing anchor commitments.
- The transaction remains subject to closing conditions and is expected to close before the end of 2026.
SpaceX announced on Monday, October 26, 2026, a binding commitment for a master finance lease with an entity managed by Apollo Global Management. The agreement is intended to finance GPUs and related equipment for SpaceX's terrestrial computing buildout. SpaceX said in an investor update that the commitment represents the largest committed GPU financing.
A major equipment-finance commitment
The planned lease will deliver Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips and associated equipment. SpaceX said the capacity is intended to support Grok for enterprise and consumer users as well as existing and future cloud-services customers.
Apollo and Goldman Sachs are leading the financing, with Goldman Sachs acting as sole structuring agent. Funds and accounts managed by BlackRock and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, together with capital accounts advised by KKR, have made anchor commitments.
The transaction is not yet complete. SpaceX said entry into the lease remains subject to specified closing conditions and is expected before the end of 2026. Lease schedules are expected to begin when the GPUs and related equipment are delivered in the first half of 2027.
What investors should watch next
For Apollo, the commitment places its credit and capital-solutions business at the center of a large technology-infrastructure financing. The transaction also gives the firm exposure to equipment leasing linked to the expansion of artificial-intelligence computing, although the announcement does not establish the eventual earnings contribution for Apollo.
SpaceX Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen said the lease diversifies the company's funding sources and addresses a notable portion of the capital required for its growth plans. He also said SpaceX was seeing payback periods of less than one year on its superintelligence infrastructure investments; that is management's forward-looking assessment, not a reported Apollo result.
