AstraZeneca meets investors in London on Monday, November 2, after the pharmaceutical group reported its nine-month and third-quarter results on Friday, October 30. In its official results release, the company said revenue and Core earnings per share advanced at constant exchange rates while its full-year outlook remained unchanged.
Total revenue for the first nine months reached USD 46.9 billion, up 7 percent at constant exchange rates. Core operating profit and Core EPS each rose 14 percent, with Core EPS at USD 8.00. Third-quarter revenue was USD 16.209 billion, up 7 percent at constant exchange rates, while quarterly Core EPS increased 19 percent to USD 2.79.
Oncology leads commercial momentum
Oncology remained the largest growth engine. Nine-month revenue in the therapy area rose 16 percent to USD 21.889 billion, representing 47 percent of group revenue. Rare Disease revenue increased 11 percent to USD 7.544 billion. Respiratory and Immunology growth within BioPharmaceuticals helped offset pressure from the loss of exclusivity for Farxiga and Brilinta, as well as volume-based procurement in China.
The results also highlighted the balance between current sales and future product launches. AstraZeneca said it had secured 47 approvals in major regions since its fourth-quarter 2025 results, including first approvals for four new medicines. The company also reported positive Phase III readouts for 12 programs, with collective peak-year revenue potential well above USD 10 billion.
Guidance leaves execution in focus
AstraZeneca reconfirmed its 2026 outlook. At constant exchange rates, management expects total revenue to increase by a mid-to-high single-digit percentage and Core EPS by a low double-digit percentage. The expected Core tax rate remains between 18 percent and 22 percent.
Chief Executive Pascal Soriot said the company was on track to deliver its 2030 ambition and sustain growth through the next decade. The pipeline includes 180 projects, with 116 new molecular entities or major life-cycle management programs in Phase II or Phase III, according to the results release. AstraZeneca said upcoming 2027 readouts have potential exceeding USD 20 billion in peak-year revenue.
AstraZeneca stock traded at 165.53 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 09:37 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. Investors should view the quote alongside the company's unchanged guidance and the execution risk attached to late-stage clinical and regulatory milestones.
