- AstraZeneca reported broad commercial momentum in the first nine months and reaffirmed its full-year outlook.
- Ultomiris gained US approval for an additional rare-disease indication, expanding the company's late-stage growth platform.
AstraZeneca reported strong commercial momentum for the first nine months of 2026, while the British drugmaker secured an additional US indication for Ultomiris during the week. On Saturday, October 31, AstraZeneca stock traded at 167.15 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:24 CET.
In results published on Friday, October 30, AstraZeneca said total revenue for the first nine months rose 8 percent to 46.881 billion US dollars, or 7 percent at constant exchange rates. Core earnings per share increased 14 percent to 8.00 US dollars. Third-quarter revenue reached 16.209 billion US dollars, up 7 percent on both a reported and constant-currency basis.
Oncology, respiratory and immunology, and rare disease medicines delivered double-digit growth at constant exchange rates, offsetting pressure from Farxiga and Brilinta loss of exclusivity and volume-based procurement in China. Management reaffirmed its 2026 outlook for mid-to-high single-digit constant-currency revenue growth and low-double-digit Core EPS growth.
Pipeline progress adds a second catalyst
The US Food and Drug Administration granted Ultomiris accelerated approval for adults with primary immunoglobulin A nephropathy who face a risk of disease progression, according to RTTNews. The company said the decision makes Ultomiris the first and only C5 inhibitor approved for this use.
The results and regulatory update leave commercial execution and late-stage pipeline delivery as the main investor focus. AstraZeneca plans to publish its fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results on February 9, 2027, according to the company's results release.
