AT&T stock: Higher outlook meets Georgia network risk

- AT&T raised its 2026 adjusted EPS outlook after stronger third-quarter connectivity growth.
- Fiber, fixed wireless and postpaid phone additions supported the quarter's operating momentum.
- Copper theft across Georgia is creating service-continuity and repair risks for the network.
AT&T enters the weekend with stronger operating momentum but a new infrastructure risk. On Wednesday, October 21, the company reported third-quarter 2026 results and raised its 2026 adjusted earnings outlook. On Friday, November 6, AT&T said it was offering a reward of up to 10,000 US dollars for information on copper and fiber cable theft in Georgia.
Higher Outlook After Strong Quarter
In its third-quarter results, AT&T reported revenue of 32.3 billion US dollars, up 5.3 percent from a year earlier. Adjusted earnings per diluted share rose to 0.65 US dollars from 0.54 US dollars.
Management raised its 2026 adjusted earnings outlook to the 2.40 US dollar range, compared with a previous range of 2.25 to 2.35 US dollars. The company also expects adjusted EBITDA growth in the upper portion of its 3 percent to 4 percent range and capital investment of 23 billion to 24 billion US dollars in 2026.
The reported quarter included a 2.6 billion US dollar non-cash impairment charge tied to the held-for-sale Mexico wireless business and employee separation charges. AT&T's adjusted figures exclude these and other significant items, so the reported and adjusted earnings figures should not be treated as equivalent measures.
Fiber And Wireless Drive Expansion
Advanced Connectivity service revenue increased 6.1 percent year over year. AT&T added 442,000 fiber customers, 327,000 fixed-wireless customers and 379,000 postpaid phone customers during the quarter. The company said it had reached more than 39 million fiber locations and remained on track to exceed 60 million by the end of 2030.
Georgia Theft Raises Service Risk
AT&T's Georgia response adds an operational risk to the growth story. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that more than 400 wire-theft incidents had been recorded in the state this year. The report said damaged lines can disrupt internet, mobile service and 911 connections, while repair crews are deployed several times each week.
For investors, the incidents highlight the cost and continuity risks of maintaining legacy infrastructure while AT&T shifts investment toward fiber and 5G. The company traded at 19.42 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:41 CET on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Investors will continue to weigh the raised earnings outlook against execution, capital allocation and network-reliability demands.
