Berkshire Hathaway stock traded at 505.35 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:38 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. The company is due to publish its third-quarter earnings release and Form 10-Q on Saturday, November 7.
The upcoming report will be an important test for Berkshire under Chief Executive Greg Abel. In a November 5 analysis, Morningstar said it expects third-quarter operating earnings to rise by a mid-to-high single-digit percentage from a year earlier.
Insurance margins face scrutiny
Morningstar expects weaker underwriting results as insurance pricing normalizes and competition increases. The analyst also points to slower earned-premium growth at Geico and Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance Group. Profitability at the reinsurance unit is expected to remain resilient because major catastrophe losses have been limited.
The insurance trend is central to the report because Berkshire's diverse operating businesses can offset weakness in one division, but a softer underwriting contribution would still affect the quality of quarterly earnings. Investors will also watch investment income and the development of insurance float.
Railroad and energy offer support
BNSF Railway is expected to post higher revenue and expenses as fuel costs rise, with Morningstar anticipating decent volume growth. The energy and utilities businesses enter a seasonally stronger quarter, while favorable demand and operating leverage could support results outside insurance.
Capital allocation remains another focus. Berkshire held 364.7 billion US dollars in cash and equivalents at the end of June, according to Morningstar. The company must show how its liquidity supports acquisitions, investments or share repurchases under its new chief executive.
Morningstar assigns Berkshire Hathaway a fair value estimate of 510.00 US dollars per Class B share and describes the shares as moderately overvalued relative to that assessment. The rating reflects the balance between Berkshire's financial strength, diversified operations and the challenge of deploying very large cash reserves effectively.
