- Third-quarter revenue rose 19 percent year over year to USD 7.75 billion.
- Operating margin expanded to 47.8 percent, while adjusted margin reached 48.6 percent.
- Management expects seasonally stronger ETF flows and improved private-markets fundraising in the fourth quarter.
BlackRock reported a strong third quarter on October 14, 2026, as the asset manager combined record financial results with broad client demand. A Reuters report published by Investing.com said revenue reached USD 7.75 billion, up 19 percent from a year earlier, while adjusted earnings per share rose 38 percent to USD 15.93.
Net inflows reached USD 205 billion in the quarter and nearly USD 870 billion over the past 12 months. Assets under management rose to USD 15.5 trillion. Organic base-fee growth reached 11 percent, marking the ninth consecutive quarter at or above BlackRock's 5 percent long-term target.
Flows Span Higher-Fee Categories
Exchange-traded funds generated USD 135 billion of quarterly inflows. Index bond ETFs attracted USD 61 billion, precision ETFs USD 41 billion and active ETFs USD 22 billion. Digital-asset exchange-traded products added USD 8 billion. The mix is important for investors because management continues to emphasize categories with higher fee rates than traditional core allocations.
Private markets attracted USD 15 billion, primarily through infrastructure and private-credit deployment and the onboarding of a real-estate mandate. Cash management added USD 31 billion, while institutional active strategies brought in USD 44 billion. Institutional index products recorded USD 27 billion of outflows, concentrated in low-fee index equities.
Margins And Outlook Improve
Operating income rose 27 percent to USD 3.3 billion, lifting the operating margin to 47.8 percent, 320 basis points above the year-earlier level. Excluding performance fees and related compensation, the adjusted operating margin was 48.6 percent, an increase of 230 basis points. Performance fees reached USD 630 million, up 22 percent year over year, so the reported margin also reflected business mix.
Management expects the fourth quarter to be the seasonally strongest period for iShares, with 30 to 40 percent of annual iShares flows typically arriving then. The company also expects private-markets fundraising to improve after a softer third quarter and sees better prospects for evergreen products in late 2026 and the first half of 2027. BlackRock anticipates at least USD 550 million of share repurchases in the fourth quarter, subject to market and other conditions.
