Blackstone announced the final close of its Energy Transition Partners V fund at USD 8.7 billion on October 19, 2026. The vehicle reached its hard cap and is more than 50 percent larger than its predecessor, according to Private Equity Professional.

Blackstone Energy Transition Partners V had already entered its investment period in June. The fund has backed three platform companies developing power-generation and electric-transmission assets and has completed three acquisitions focused on energy efficiency and grid reliability.

Capital targets power infrastructure

The platform investments include Kindle Energy, Fisterra Energy and Viridon. Their activities span natural-gas power generation, energy-transition development and high-voltage transmission lines. The acquisitions include Dresser Utility Solutions, DarkVision and Flow Control Holdings, which supplies engineered components for data-center liquid-cooling systems.

The fund close comes as electricity demand from data centers and other users increases the need for generation, transmission and efficiency equipment. Since January 2025, the strategy has committed more than USD 11 billion of new equity, while Blackstone says its energy-transition strategy has committed more than USD 34 billion globally.

Private Equity Professional reported that the strategy's energy-transition investments produced a 34 percent net internal rate of return since 1997, measured as of June 30, 2026. The publication also noted that Blackstone has returned capital from earlier funds through transactions including the sale of battery-storage developer Aypa Power.

Stock trades below prior close

Blackstone stock traded at 106.70 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:16 CET on Friday, October 30, 2026, 0.51 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, October 29. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Blackstone stock.

The fund close strengthens Blackstone's capacity to deploy capital into businesses linked to power supply, grid resilience and energy consumption. For shareholders, the scale of fundraising supports fee-earning assets and future investment activity, while returns will depend on deployment discipline, financing conditions and the performance of the underlying holdings.

The broader S&P 500 market environment remains relevant for the valuation of listed alternative-asset managers.
