- BMW reported third-quarter revenue of 30.452 billion euros and net profit of 1.448 billion euros.
- The Automotive EBIT margin fell to 3.4 percent from 5.2 percent a year earlier.
- Management cited faster restructuring and the Neue Klasse rollout as central to its realignment.
BMW Group reported a weaker third quarter on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, while presenting a faster realignment of its business. The company said revenue fell 5.8 percent year on year to 30.452 billion euros and net profit declined 14.7 percent to 1.448 billion euros. BMW published the figures and its updated outlook in its quarterly results release.
Profit pressure meets faster restructuring
Group earnings before tax reached 2.083 billion euros, down 10.6 percent from the prior-year quarter. Automotive EBIT fell 39.7 percent to 901 million euros, leaving the segment with a 3.4 percent EBIT margin compared with 5.2 percent a year earlier. BMW said lower volumes, intense competition and negative currency effects weighed on the automotive business.
Deliveries fell 6.3 percent to 551,075 vehicles. Growth in Europe and the United States only partly offset a 25 percent decline in China, where BMW is preparing the launch of the iX3 long-wheelbase model in November and further Neue Klasse products during 2027. Fully electric vehicles represented one-fifth of group deliveries in the quarter, while battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles together accounted for 27.4 percent.
Near-break-even automotive outlook
BMW now expects an Automotive EBIT margin between minus 0.5 percent and plus 0.5 percent for 2026, compared with the previous range of 1 percent to 3 percent. The company continues to expect an operating margin above 2.0 percent before portfolio and structural measures, indicating that the reported result will absorb substantial non-operating costs in the fourth quarter.
The group maintained its Automotive free-cash-flow target above 2.5 billion euros. It now expects automotive deliveries to decline moderately from the prior year and Automotive return on capital employed to fall between minus 1 percent and plus 1 percent. BMW also lowered its motorcycle delivery outlook to a slight decline, while retaining a 4.0 percent to 6.0 percent EBIT margin range for that division.
BMW said portfolio and structural measures are expected to reduce the Automotive margin by about 2.5 percentage points in 2026. The company plans to accelerate the reduction of management functions and other organizational changes. Chief Executive Board Chairman Milan Nedeljkovic said the measures should improve agility and long-term competitiveness, while Chief Financial Officer Walter Mertl linked faster implementation to future margin improvement.
Neue Klasse drives the next phase
BMW is using strong demand for Neue Klasse models to add production shifts and bring forward the phase-out of selected older vehicle and technology generations, including some Gen5 battery models. The group sees Gen6 technology, greater cost efficiency and artificial intelligence as parts of a longer-term effort to restore profitability.
