- Third-quarter room nights rose 7 percent and gross bookings increased 10 percent year over year.
- Adjusted earnings per share reached 4.66 US dollars, while reported revenue fell 1 percent to 8.893 billion US dollars.
- Booking Holdings expects slower fourth-quarter growth as international demand faces travel disruption and a difficult comparison.
Booking Holdings reported a mixed third quarter on November 3, with operating indicators exceeding management's guidance while reported revenue fell short of market expectations. The company said in its third-quarter financial release that room nights, gross bookings, adjusted revenue and adjusted EBITDA all came in above the high end of its own outlook.
Booking Holdings stock traded at 153.00 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:08 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 0.29 percent above the Xetra close of Wednesday, November 4. The comparison uses the previous Xetra session because the current session had not reached the 17:35 CET threshold.
Strong Demand, Weaker Revenue Conversion
Room nights increased 7 percent year over year, accelerating from 5 percent in the second quarter. Gross bookings rose 10 percent, or approximately 11 percent at constant exchange rates. Adjusted revenue increased 9 percent, while adjusted EBITDA grew 9 percent to approximately 4.6 billion US dollars and carried a 47.0 percent margin including stock-based compensation.
Reported revenue declined 1 percent to 8.893 billion US dollars. Net income was 2.717 billion US dollars, or 3.61 US dollars per diluted share. Adjusted earnings per share reached 4.66 US dollars, compared with a consensus estimate of 4.48 US dollars cited in the earnings-call transcript. The reported top-line decline contrasts with the stronger booking volumes and reflects, among other factors, the mix of flight bookings and the timing between bookings and travel.
Management also highlighted the growing role of merchant transactions. Merchant gross bookings represented approximately 75 percent of the total, up about 3 percentage points from a year earlier. The company said its payments platform supports a more flexible booking experience and adds contribution margin.
Fourth-Quarter Guidance Turns Cautious
For the fourth quarter, Booking Holdings expects room nights to increase 1 percent to 3 percent and gross bookings to rise 2 percent to 4 percent. On a constant-currency basis, gross bookings are expected to increase 4 percent to 6 percent. Adjusted revenue is projected to grow 0 percent to 2 percent on a reported basis and 2 percent to 4 percent at constant exchange rates.
Adjusted EBITDA is expected to be broadly flat year over year, or up about 2 percent at constant exchange rates. Management plans to increase investment in flights, attractions, dining, artificial intelligence and technology infrastructure, with some offset from marketing leverage. The company maintained its full-year view for high-single-digit growth in gross bookings, adjusted revenue and adjusted EBITDA, and low- to mid-teens growth in adjusted earnings per share.
In the earnings call, management pointed to moderating international demand late in the quarter, disruptions affecting travel to and from the Middle East, higher airfares and localized unrest in parts of Europe. Domestic travel remained more resilient, while the fourth quarter also faces the toughest prior-year comparison of 2026.
