BYD Company stock falls 1.06 percent as charging expands

Charging target arrives early

The 2,000-station highway network forms part of BYD's 20,000-station flash charging target for 2026. BYD had already built 10,000 flash charging stations by August 28, 2026, according to CnEVPost.

The highway phase matters because it places high-power charging directly on long-distance routes. BYD says its second-generation chargers can deliver 1,500 kW per connector, while the network is open to electric vehicles from other brands.

Margins improve as revenue falls

BYD's H1 2026 revenue was RMB 344,815 million, down 7.13 percent year over year, while net profit attributable to shareholders fell 20.54 percent to RMB 12,325 million. Those figures come from the Q2 2026 earnings summary published by Quartr.

The margin trend is more constructive than the top line. Gross margin improved to 18.85 percent from 18.01 percent in H1 2025, while operating cash inflow rose to RMB 37,335 million from RMB 31,833 million.

Stock remains below yearly high
