Cadence Design Systems raised its 2026 outlook on October 26 after third-quarter revenue advanced 22% year over year to USD 1.633 billion. The electronic-design-automation company said demand for AI-driven chip and system design supported growth across its product categories.

In its October 26 results release, Cadence reported revenue of USD 1.633 billion, compared with USD 1.339 billion a year earlier. GAAP diluted earnings per share were USD 1.05, unchanged from the prior-year quarter, while non-GAAP diluted earnings per share increased to USD 2.11 from USD 1.93.

AI Demand Lifts Multiple Businesses

Growth was broad across the portfolio. Core electronic-design-automation revenue rose 20% year over year, intellectual-property revenue increased 24%, and System Design and Analysis revenue grew 30%. Recurring revenue advanced 18%, and the company said AI Super Agents had more than 100 active customer engagements.

Cadence also highlighted the launch of Maestro, a portfolio of domain-specialized AI models for chip and system design. The company said initial workflow results showed up to 30% higher quality and five times greater token efficiency versus general-purpose foundation models, with several customer deployments underway.

Management linked the outlook increase to broad-based momentum and a record backlog. Chief Executive Officer Anirudh Devgan said Cadence was raising its 2026 revenue outlook to 21% year-over-year growth, while Chief Financial Officer John Wall pointed to continued strength in recurring revenue and AI-driven designs.

Quarter-end backlog reached USD 8.2 billion, including USD 4.2 billion expected to be recognized as revenue during the following 12 months. Cadence used USD 400 million to repurchase shares during the quarter, and its board authorized an additional USD 2.5 billion for the buyback program.
