Caliway Biopharmaceuticals stock starts second global Phase 3 trial

On October 29, Caliway Biopharmaceuticals announced that enrollment had begun in SUPREME-02, the company's second global pivotal Phase 3 trial for investigational drug candidate CBL-514. The announcement marks a further step in the company's development program for nonsurgical abdominal fat reduction.

The Caliway release said SUPREME-02 is a randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled multinational study. The trial is expected to enroll about 320 participants at 30 to 35 sites in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Second pivotal trial begins

SUPREME-02 will complement SUPREME-01, which is already under way. Caliway said the two studies are intended to generate clinical evidence for potential future regulatory submissions. The company also said that CBL-0206, a Phase 2 study, continues to enroll participants in Taiwan and Australia.

For investors, the Phase 3 expansion moves the program from an early clinical signal toward larger, controlled studies of efficacy, safety and tolerability. The release describes the trial as assessing patient-reported and clinician-reported outcomes alongside magnetic resonance imaging assessments.

Upcoming obesity research presentation

Caliway plans to present preclinical combination-therapy findings at ObesityWeek 2026 in Washington, D.C., on November 15. The presentation will examine CBL-514 with the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide and the amylin receptor agonist eloralintide, focusing on weight reduction and post-treatment weight regain.
