- Carvana delivered record third-quarter revenue, retail unit sales and adjusted EBITDA.
- Management expects sequential retail unit growth in the fourth quarter if market conditions remain stable.
- Full-year adjusted EBITDA is expected at the higher end of the previously communicated range.
Carvana reported record third-quarter results on October 28, 2026, as retail volume and revenue reached new highs. The online car retailer said it expects another sequential increase in retail units in the fourth quarter, provided market conditions remain stable. The Business Wire release was carried by Yahoo Finance.
Record Sales Drive Results
Carvana sold 217,385 retail units in the quarter ended September 30, up 39 percent from the prior-year period. Revenue rose 42 percent to USD 8.040 billion, making the quarter the first in the company's history to exceed USD 8 billion in revenue. Both measures set company records.
Net income increased by USD 220 million year over year to USD 483 million, while the net income margin reached 6.0 percent. GAAP operating income rose to USD 714 million, producing an operating margin of 8.9 percent.
Adjusted EBITDA reached a record USD 800 million, an increase of USD 163 million from a year earlier. The adjusted EBITDA margin was 10.0 percent, down from 11.3 percent in the prior-year quarter as revenue grew faster than the adjusted profit measure. Carvana defines adjusted EBITDA as a non-GAAP measure that excludes selected items including interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, share-based compensation and debt-extinguishment effects.
Management Raises End-Year Focus
Management expects retail unit sales to increase sequentially in the fourth quarter. It also expects full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA to land at the higher end of its previously communicated USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.0 billion range, assuming the operating environment remains stable.
Founder and Chief Executive Ernie Garcia said the company had doubled the number of customers served over the past two years while expanding selection, delivery speed and financing options. His comments point to continued investment in customer reach and operating capacity as Carvana scales its platform.
For investors, the results show strong top-line and volume momentum, but the lower adjusted EBITDA margin highlights the importance of mix, pricing and operating efficiency. The outlook also leaves execution and market conditions as key factors for the final quarter of 2026.
