- Cemex reported its fifth consecutive quarter of double-digit EBITDA and EBIT growth.
- Management expects further savings from digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence.
- Asset sales are intended to redirect capital toward higher-return opportunities.
Cemex delivered stronger operating performance in the third quarter of 2026, with higher sales, expanding margins and improved cash generation. Cemnet reported the results on October 27, following Cemex's third-quarter release dated October 26.
What has changed since our last report
The latest figures add important detail to the earnings picture. Operating EBITDA rose 12 percent year over year to USD 990 million, while the margin widened to 21.6 percent from 20.8 percent. Net profit attributable to controlling shareholders increased 55 percent to USD 407 million, and free cash flow from operations rose 34 percent to USD 723 million.
Management also reaffirmed full-year 2026 EBITDA growth guidance of 16 to 17 percent. The outlook is based on a Mexican peso exchange-rate assumption of 18.25 to 18.50 per U.S. dollar for the fourth quarter. Cemex expects normal seasonality, higher maintenance costs and increased energy costs to weigh on the final quarter.
Efficiency remains the central lever
Project Cutting Edge generated USD 60 million of recurring savings during the quarter. Cemex said it has completed 80 percent of its USD 475 million cost-savings target, leaving USD 95 million that is expected to benefit primarily the 2027 results. The next transformation phase is intended to use digitalization and artificial intelligence in back-office processes, logistics and production.
Asset pruning is another part of the strategy. Completed and announced transactions have generated more than USD 200 million of estimated proceeds and cover more than 140 facilities. Cemex also completed the sale of ready-mix and recycled-concrete assets in Atlanta and began exclusive negotiations with Vicat for selected assets in southeastern France.
