- Comcast reported third-quarter revenue of 29.3 billion US dollars and adjusted earnings per share of 1.07 US dollars.
- Broadband customer losses and video declines contrasted with wireless additions and a profitable Peacock quarter.
- Layoffs in Philadelphia and other states are part of a broader restructuring ahead of the planned NBCUniversal and Sky separation.
Comcast moved from quarterly results to workforce restructuring during the week of October 26 to 30, 2026. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Friday, October 30, that Comcast is eliminating 634 positions at its Philadelphia headquarters as the company pursues cost reductions and invests in artificial intelligence.
The same report said Comcast had notified regulators of planned cuts affecting 119 positions in New Jersey, 159 in Washington state and 82 in California. The Philadelphia reductions are scheduled to begin on December 31. Comcast also plans to hire more than 1,100 positions as part of the reorganization, including more than 500 in Philadelphia.
Broadband Pressure Meets Streaming Gains
Comcast's third-quarter report, released on Thursday, October 22, covered the period ended September 30. In its quarterly release, the company reported revenue of 29.3 billion US dollars, down 6.1 percent year over year, while net income attributable to Comcast rose 3.5 percent to 3.448 billion US dollars.
Adjusted earnings per share reached 1.07 US dollars. Comcast's Connectivity and Platforms revenue fell 2.7 percent to 19.663 billion US dollars, and domestic broadband customers declined by 144,000. Domestic video customers fell by 274,000, while wireless lines increased by 368,000.
Content and Experiences provided a counterweight. Peacock generated 261 million US dollars in adjusted EBITDA on 1.8 billion US dollars in revenue, its second consecutive profitable quarter. Paid subscribers reached 48 million, up 17 percent from a year earlier.
Separation Raises Execution Stakes
The workforce changes come as Comcast prepares the planned separation of NBCUniversal and Sky from the connectivity businesses. Comcast said the separation remains on track to create two independent publicly traded companies. Management also expects a significant fourth-quarter restructuring charge related mainly to the transformation.
For investors, the week highlighted a sharper split within Comcast's operating profile: broadband and video remain under pressure, while wireless, business services and Peacock are showing stronger momentum. The planned separation adds a further execution milestone for management and increases the importance of cost control in the connectivity company.
