CRH stock faces lower 2026 outlook as buyback targets returns

- Third-quarter revenue increased 3 percent year over year, while net income declined because of impairment losses.
- Management lowered its 2026 net income and adjusted EBITDA ranges amid inflation and weaker residential construction.
- The Arcosa acquisition and the Velocity program are intended to strengthen infrastructure exposure and margins.
CRH stock traded at 84.71 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:29 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. The building materials group is balancing weaker near-term earnings expectations against a new capital-return program and the integration of Arcosa.
In its October 29 release, CRH reported third-quarter revenue of 11.4 billion US dollars, up 3 percent from 11.1 billion US dollars a year earlier. Net income fell to 1.2 billion US dollars from 1.5 billion US dollars, primarily because of impairment losses. Adjusted EBITDA held at 2.7 billion US dollars, but the adjusted EBITDA margin slipped to 23.5 percent from 24.3 percent.
Lower guidance meets capital returns
CRH lowered its full-year 2026 net income outlook to 3.1 billion to 3.3 billion US dollars from 3.9 billion to 4.1 billion US dollars. The adjusted EBITDA range was reduced to 7.8 billion to 8.0 billion US dollars from 8.1 billion to 8.5 billion US dollars. The company cited inflationary cost pressure, subdued residential construction and the earlier-than-expected completion of the Arcosa acquisition.
The revised outlook puts the focus on execution in the final quarter. CRH continues to expect favorable underlying demand in key end-markets, while its 2027 outlook remains positive across infrastructure-related businesses. The company has not presented the guidance change as a retreat from its longer-term growth strategy.
At the same time, the board authorized a share buyback of up to 6 billion US dollars running through the end of 2030. CRH said the program is backed by its cash generation and balance sheet. The authorization allows repurchases through open-market transactions, accelerated buybacks and other permitted structures, with timing and size left to management.
Arcosa expands infrastructure exposure
CRH completed the 8.5 billion US dollar Arcosa acquisition before the third-quarter announcement. The transaction expands the group's aggregates and critical infrastructure position in North America. CRH also said it had invested a further 1.9 billion US dollars in 27 acquisitions during the first nine months of 2026.
Management introduced Velocity as an operating-model initiative focused on simplification, technology and faster execution. CRH expects the program to deliver 400 million US dollars in annual run-rate benefits by the end of 2028. That target gives investors a potential offset to current cost inflation, although delivery and integration remain central to the longer-term margin case.
CRH stock therefore faces two competing forces: lower 2026 earnings guidance and resilient demand in infrastructure markets, supported by acquisitions and planned shareholder returns. The next major financial marker is the fourth-quarter update, when investors can assess whether pricing, cost control and Arcosa integration are tracking the revised plan.
