- Power Systems led Cummins' quarterly performance as demand from data center projects remained strong.
- Management lowered its full-year revenue growth outlook while maintaining its EBITDA margin range.
- Weaker pickup truck demand remains the main pressure point for the rest of 2026.
Cummins reported a strong third quarter on Thursday, November 5, but narrowed its full-year revenue outlook as weaker pickup truck demand offset continued strength in power generation. The results were released by Business Wire via Yahoo Finance.
Power demand drives quarterly gains
Revenue for the quarter ended September 30 rose 13 percent year over year to 9.438 billion US dollars. Net income attributable to Cummins reached 1.14 billion US dollars, compared with 536 million US dollars a year earlier, while diluted earnings per share increased to 8.25 US dollars from 3.86 US dollars.
EBITDA reached a record 1.8 billion US dollars, or 18.9 percent of sales, versus 1.2 billion US dollars and 14.3 percent a year earlier. Cummins said global power-generation demand remained exceptionally strong, driven by data center construction.
Guidance reflects truck-market pressure
Management now expects full-year revenue growth of approximately 10 percent, compared with prior guidance of 10 to 13 percent. The expected full-year EBITDA margin remains approximately 18.2 percent, within the earlier range of 18 to 18.5 percent.
Chief Executive Jennifer Rumsey said pickup truck customer orders weakened, while power-generation and North American heavy-duty truck demand remained strong. Cummins expects fourth-quarter revenue to increase from the third-quarter level and set a new record.
