Danone (ISIN FR0000120644) is partnering on a more than USD 40 million renewable-energy facility in Ohio, while its stock trades below its EUR 80.14 52-week high as of October 27, 2026. The project turns waste from Danone USA's largest U.S. yogurt plant into biogas for production heat, according to the PR Newswire release dated October 19, 2026.
Waste becomes process energy
The PurposeEnergy facility in Minster, Ohio, is the first project between PurposeEnergy and Danone. It is operational and ramping, with a formal grand opening planned for spring 2027, the release said.
Wastewater and high-strength organic residuals from the nearby Danone plant will be converted into renewable biogas, treated water and nutrient-rich soil amendments. The biogas will move through a dedicated pipeline to a boiler at Danone's Minster plant, displacing conventional natural gas.
What does the facility add?
The plant is designed to process up to 250,000 gallons of residuals per day and produce 50,000 MMBtu of renewable biogas annually at full operation. That links the investment directly to Danone's manufacturing footprint rather than an external power market.
Results date is next
Danone has scheduled publication of its third-quarter 2026 sales for October 28, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. CET, followed by an analyst call at 8:15 a.m. CET, according to Danone's financial calendar. The upcoming sales update will give investors a nearer-term measure of demand alongside the longer-term manufacturing investment.
