Datadog reported strong third-quarter results on November 4, but its usage-based model remains exposed to concentration among large AI customers. The company said revenue reached 1.20 billion US dollars, while the outlook points to a more measured fourth quarter.

According to the Datadog investor release, third-quarter revenue increased 35 percent year over year. Non-GAAP operating income reached 334 million US dollars, with a 28 percent operating margin. The company generated 290 million US dollars in operating cash flow and 251 million US dollars in free cash flow.

What changed after the earnings report

Datadog ended the quarter with about 4,860 customers generating at least 100,000 US dollars in annual recurring revenue, up from about 4,060 a year earlier. The company also introduced Scout 1.0, a specialized model for production investigations that now powers its Bits Investigation product.

Management expects fourth-quarter revenue between 1.19 billion and 1.20 billion US dollars. Full-year revenue guidance stands at 4.515 billion to 4.525 billion US dollars, while non-GAAP earnings per diluted share are expected at 2.73 to 2.75 US dollars. The outlook assumes limited near-term contribution from the largest customer and reflects the effect of early renewals by some large AI accounts.

TIKR reported that Needham reiterated its Buy rating and 300 US dollar price target. The firm remains constructive even as customer concentration and lower short-term usage create volatility. For investors, the next key test is whether the 2027 outlook confirms that broader platform adoption can offset fluctuations from individual AI customers.
