- The FTC ordered Delta and eight other companies to provide information on personalized pricing practices.
- Delta says it does not use personal data to make individualized fare offers.
- The agency gave recipients 45 days to respond under Section 6(b) of the FTC Act.
The Federal Trade Commission has ordered Delta Air Lines to provide information on how it sets prices, adding a new regulatory issue for the airline. The FTC announced the inquiry on October 28, 2026, in a press release.
What has changed since the last report
The order covers Delta, United, JetBlue, Lyft, Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, Target and Walmart. The companies must provide information that could show whether prices vary between customers because of loyalty-program participation, browsing behavior or other personal data.
The FTC said the recipients have 45 days from receiving the orders to respond. The agency can seek enforcement in federal court if a company does not comply. The inquiry is a market study under Section 6(b), not a finding that Delta violated the law.
Delta says it has never used, tested or planned a fare product that targets customers with individualized offers based on personal data. The airline says fares are determined by demand and seat availability and that it has zero tolerance for discriminatory or predatory pricing.
