- T-Mobile US delivered stronger-than-expected customer growth in the third quarter.
- Reports say Deutsche Telekom has deferred submitting a formal offer for its US subsidiary.
- Deutsche Telekom is due to publish its own third-quarter results on November 5, 2026.
Deutsche Telekom stock was in focus on October 29 after reports said the company had put a possible full combination with T-Mobile US on hold for now. The development followed stronger-than-expected third-quarter customer additions at the US subsidiary, while Deutsche Telekom's own third-quarter report is still due on November 5.
t-online, citing dpa-AFX and a Bloomberg report, said Deutsche Telekom had apparently refrained from submitting a formal offer to combine its German operations with T-Mobile US. The report attributed part of the resistance to the works council. A possible transaction has therefore been delayed, not definitively cancelled.
US subsidiary provides fresh operating support
T-Mobile US added 274,000 postpaid accounts in the third quarter, according to Telecoms.com. Service revenue rose 6 percent year over year to 19.4 billion US dollars, while postpaid average revenue per account increased 4 percent to 155.73 US dollars. The article also noted that churn rose slightly to 1.09 percent, keeping a counterpoint to the growth figures.
For Deutsche Telekom investors, the combination of a strong US operating update and a pause in the potential merger changes the near-term discussion, but it does not resolve the strategic question. T-Mobile US remains important to group growth, while the structure of any future transaction remains uncertain. The November report will provide the next company-level test of operating performance and outlook.
