EDP raised its 2026 recurring net profit guidance for the third time this year after reporting stronger nine-month earnings. Reuters reported on Friday, November 6, that the Portuguese utility now expects recurring net profit of 1.4 billion to 1.5 billion euros for 2026, up from its previous 1.4 billion euro forecast.

Recurring net income reached 1.19 billion euros in the first nine months, an increase of 22 percent from the same period a year earlier. EDP also lifted its recurring EBITDA outlook to 5.4 billion euros from 5.3 billion euros. Renewables and higher regulatory returns in Iberian networks supported the improvement.

Brazil award broadens infrastructure pipeline

EDP Transmissao Goias won Lot 2 in Brazil's 2026 transmission auction, according to Energia Estrategica. The project carries estimated investment of 317 million Brazilian reais and includes 126 kilometers of transmission lines between Goias and Bahia.

The award includes the Iaciara 2 substation with 300 megavolt-amperes of transformation capacity. Its permitted annual revenue was set at 26.53 million Brazilian reais, 53.29 percent below the regulatory ceiling. The concession is expected to add regulated network assets, while construction and execution remain important factors for future returns.

What investors should watch next

The earnings update gives EDP a stronger near-term operating outlook, but the mix of recurring results, asset rotation and regulated returns remains important for assessing the quality of growth. The Brazilian project adds long-term infrastructure exposure rather than an immediate earnings contribution.
