Emerson Electric is heading into its fourth-quarter and full-year fiscal 2026 release with software renewals, project execution and cash generation in focus. The company is scheduled to publish the figures before the U.S. market opens on Wednesday, November 4, followed by a management conference call, according to ad-hoc-news.de.
Software renewal is the central test
Emerson generated sales of 4.873 billion U.S. dollars in fiscal third quarter 2026, up 7 percent from a year earlier. Underlying sales increased 6 percent, underlying orders rose 7 percent, adjusted segment EBITA margin reached 28.5 percent and adjusted earnings per share increased 13 percent to 1.71 U.S. dollars.
Software & Systems grew 11 percent organically, but growth was uneven. Test and measurement advanced 23 percent, while control systems and software, including AspenTech, grew 7 percent. Management expects both areas to deliver 10 percent underlying growth in the fourth quarter and has maintained its full-year annual contract value target above 10 percent.
Project conversion meets regional risks
Intelligent Devices, Emerson's largest business, posted 5 percent underlying growth in the third quarter and a 27.9 percent adjusted segment EBITA margin. Demand from power and liquefied natural gas projects supports the business, while weaker conditions in China and Europe create pressure. The Middle East conflict reduced third-quarter revenue by 25 million U.S. dollars, with management expecting a similar fourth-quarter impact.
The report will show whether orders convert into shipments. A project funnel of 12.4 billion U.S. dollars and backlog of about 9.6 billion U.S. dollars provide potential support, but delayed investment decisions in major liquefied natural gas and petrochemical projects remain a risk.
Cash flow will test earnings quality
Free cash flow reached 1.323 billion U.S. dollars in the third quarter, up 36 percent. The period benefited from 82 million U.S. dollars in tariff refunds, while some tax payments shifted into the fourth quarter. Full-year free cash flow guidance of about 3.6 billion U.S. dollars therefore makes cash conversion an important measure of repeatable improvement.
