- Michele Harradence will become Enbridge's president and chief executive officer on January 1, 2027, succeeding Greg Ebel.
- Harradence said speed, certainty, energy availability and disciplined execution will shape Canada's infrastructure expansion.
- Enbridge operates major gas, liquids, utility and renewable-energy platforms across North America and Europe.
Enbridge's incoming chief executive Michele Harradence used a Canadian Gas Association Energy Week keynote on October 27 to outline an infrastructure-focused agenda ahead of her planned takeover. In remarks published by Enbridge, Harradence argued that Canada must turn project potential into investment through faster approvals, reliable energy availability and disciplined execution.

Harradence sets a broad infrastructure agenda
Harradence said the central question was no longer whether Canada had the potential to build the energy systems of tomorrow, but whether governments and companies could move with enough speed, certainty and discipline. She linked infrastructure development to customer choice, investment attraction and long-term prosperity.
Her comments put execution at the center of the transition. Harradence said governments must create conditions for investment, while industry must present credible projects, build strong Indigenous and community partnerships and deliver effectively. She also stressed that momentum alone does not create infrastructure or economic returns.
The speech gives investors an early indication of the priorities Harradence may bring to the top job. The agenda favors reliable project delivery and integrated energy systems rather than a narrow focus on a single fuel or business line. For Enbridge, that framing is relevant because the company combines regulated utility operations with large pipeline, storage, renewable-power and liquids networks.
Planned succession supports continuity
Enbridge announced in September that current president and chief executive Greg Ebel will retire effective December 31, 2026. Harradence is scheduled to become president and chief executive officer on January 1, 2027. She currently serves as executive vice president and president of Enbridge's Gas Distribution and Storage business and has more than 25 years of experience across the energy value chain.
Ebel's retirement and Harradence's appointment create a defined handover rather than an unexpected management change. The incoming CEO will take charge of a platform spanning a 19,300-mile natural-gas transmission network, an oil and liquids pipeline system of more than 18,500 miles, a utility franchise serving 7.2 million customers and renewable-energy assets with capacity to generate or store more than 8.2 gigawatts.
Enbridge says its gas transmission network moves 20 percent of the gas consumed in the United States and connects with every operational liquefied-natural-gas export facility on the US Gulf Coast. Its liquids network moves 30 percent of North America's crude, while the utility business can transport up to 9.3 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
What investors will watch next
The transition places project execution, regulatory coordination and capital allocation at the forefront of the investment case. Harradence's remarks point to a strategy built around meeting future demand with a mix of natural gas, electricity, nuclear power, liquids infrastructure, storage, renewable power and emerging technologies.
For shareholders, the key test will be whether the incoming leadership can preserve the stability associated with Enbridge's established infrastructure businesses while advancing new projects through permitting and construction. The speech provides strategic direction, but the financial effect will depend on execution, investment timing and the eventual performance of the underlying assets.
