- Jamere Jackson is set to become FedEx's next chief financial officer after serving as an AutoZone executive.
- Management is balancing stronger premium logistics demand against higher transportation, labor and aircraft maintenance costs.
- Network integration and a more selective focus on higher-value freight remain central to the margin plan.
FedEx is preparing a change at the top of its finance organization. The company appointed AutoZone executive Jamere Jackson as its next chief financial officer, according to FreightWaves in a report published Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The leadership move comes as FedEx works to convert stronger parcel and freight demand into more consistent margins. FreightWaves reported that revenue rose 12 percent to 22.9 billion U.S. dollars in the September quarter, while adjusted operating income increased 16 percent to 1.2 billion U.S. dollars.
Cost pressure tests the outlook
Higher volumes, pricing and structural savings supported the quarter, but transportation, fuel, labor and aircraft maintenance expenses remain important risks. FreightWaves reported that FedEx expects higher outsourced trucking costs and additional pilot-related wage expense to weigh on near-term domestic profitability.
The company is also using Network 2.0 to consolidate its ground and express operations. About 65 percent of eligible volume is expected to move through dual-purpose facilities during the peak season, while the company targets recurring savings from network and corporate restructuring.
Premium logistics remains strategic
FedEx is emphasizing higher-value business customers in sectors including aerospace, automotive, healthcare and technology. Business-to-business activity now represents 60 percent of revenue, according to the FreightWaves report, while international freight and air cargo are expanding the company's addressable market.
