- FedEx lifted its calendar 2026 revenue-growth and adjusted earnings forecasts after the September quarter.
- Higher package yields, stronger volumes and structural cost reductions supported operating performance.
- Purchased transportation, wage and fuel costs remain key risks for margin expansion.
FedEx raised its calendar 2026 outlook after reporting stronger operating performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company said higher package yields, increased volumes and structural cost reductions supported results, while rising transportation and wage costs limited the margin benefit, according to its October 28 earnings release.
Higher guidance, uneven cost picture
Revenue reached 22.9 billion US dollars in the September quarter, up from 20.4 billion US dollars a year earlier. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose to 3.74 US dollars from 2.93 US dollars, while adjusted operating income increased to 1.20 billion US dollars from 1.03 billion US dollars.
FedEx now expects calendar 2026 revenue growth of approximately 12 percent, compared with its previous forecast of approximately 11 percent. Adjusted diluted earnings per share are forecast at 18.00 to 18.60 US dollars, up from the former range of 16.90 to 18.10 US dollars. The adjusted figures exclude, among other items, mark-to-market effects related to the FedEx Freight investment and restructuring costs.
The release also highlighted the pressure points for investors. Purchased transportation expense rose 19 percent year over year to 6.455 billion US dollars in the quarter, while fuel expense increased 64 percent to 1.270 billion US dollars. FedEx completed 2.0 billion US dollars of share repurchases between June and September and had 4.3 billion US dollars remaining under its 2026 authorization at the end of the quarter.
