- Drug delivery demand lifted the Containment & Delivery Systems division.
- Glass businesses continued to weigh on profitability and nine-month earnings.
- Gerresheimer expects a stronger fourth quarter and a December release of final figures.
Gerresheimer released preliminary third-quarter and nine-month results on Friday, October 30, 2026, in a corporate announcement carried by Finanzen.at. Third-quarter revenue, including business units currently in the sales process, rose 8 percent year over year to 605 million euros. Adjusted EBITDA reached 103 million euros, compared with 106 million euros in the prior-year quarter.
Devices lead the recovery
The Containment & Delivery Systems division was the main growth driver. Its third-quarter revenue reached 313 million euros, while adjusted EBITDA rose to 77 million euros from 64 million euros. The division's adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 24.5 percent from 22.3 percent as demand for drug delivery devices increased and expanded production capacity ramped up.
Primary Injectable Solutions generated 123 million euros of third-quarter revenue, up from 114 million euros, but adjusted EBITDA declined to 15 million euros from 19 million euros. Moulded Glass revenue increased to 169 million euros from 165 million euros, while adjusted EBITDA fell to 17 million euros from 29 million euros as inventory reductions lowered capacity utilization. Gerresheimer closed its Chicago Heights plant in September.
Fourth quarter remains decisive
For the first nine months, revenue was approximately 1.7 billion euros, while adjusted EBITDA declined to 272 million euros from 331 million euros. The group attributed the weakness primarily to inventory reductions and lower performance in Tubular Glass Europe and Moulded Glass.
Gerresheimer expects a stronger fourth quarter in line with its existing guidance. The company also said preparations for the sale of its Primary Packaging Plastics business are progressing, with closing now expected in the first quarter of 2027. A comprehensive refinancing is another stated milestone.
