- Gilead will present 21 abstracts on primary biliary cholangitis and chronic hepatitis delta from November 5 to 9 in Denver.
- Livdelzi studies address alkaline phosphatase normalization, long-term safety and fatigue in primary biliary cholangitis.
- Hepcludex analyses cover 96-week responses and portal hypertension in chronic hepatitis delta.
Gilead Sciences is opening a concentrated clinical-data cycle in liver disease as The Liver Meeting 2026 begins Thursday, November 5, in Denver. The company said in an October 22 release that it will present 21 abstracts on primary biliary cholangitis, or PBC, and chronic hepatitis delta, with sessions running through November 9.
The program includes late-breaking Phase 3 findings from the IDEAL study of Livdelzi, or seladelpar, in PBC. Gilead said the study examines composite alkaline phosphatase normalization in adults with lower levels of alkaline phosphatase elevation who were taking, or could not tolerate, ursodeoxycholic acid. The company describes the marker as an important measure of disease activity, while the release cautions that long-term clinical outcomes remain a separate question.
Livdelzi Evidence Broadens
Several Livdelzi presentations are scheduled for November 5, including analyses of up to five years of safety and efficacy from the ASSURE study. Other abstracts examine renal function, inflammatory and fibrotic pathways, treatment response across prior therapies, pruritus-related cytokines and the factors that influence eligibility for second-line treatment.
A late-breaking presentation on November 8 will address fatigue improvement in patients with PBC. The program also includes research into health-related quality of life, treatment adherence, healthcare use and costs. Taken together, the studies extend the focus beyond a single laboratory marker toward durability, symptoms and treatment access.
Hepcludex Targets Long-Term Care
Gilead will also present long-term and real-world evidence for Hepcludex, or bulevirtide, in chronic hepatitis delta virus infection. The company highlights 96-week findings on combined virologic and biochemical response and a 48-week analysis of clinically significant portal hypertension. These presentations are scheduled for November 7.
Additional work addresses on-treatment liver-enzyme flares, noninvasive fibrosis measures and disease progression. A November 8 analysis will examine low hepatitis delta testing rates among people with chronic hepatitis B. That emphasis matters commercially because earlier diagnosis and sustained treatment are central to expanding the addressable patient pool, although the meeting itself does not establish future sales.
Gilead's October 22 announcement is the source for the meeting schedule and study descriptions. The company's clinical-development executive Swati Tole said the presentations are intended to examine treatment response, symptoms and long-term management in rare liver diseases. The remarks describe the scientific rationale but do not guarantee regulatory or commercial outcomes.
