- Gilead raised its full-year product-sales outlook after strong HIV and oncology demand.
- Non-GAAP earnings improved despite lower GAAP earnings and higher acquisition-related costs.
- The company declared a quarterly dividend payable on December 30, 2026.
Gilead Sciences reported stronger product demand in the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, and lifted its full-year outlook. The company said in its October 29 release that product sales excluding Veklury rose 16 percent year over year to 8.2 billion US dollars, while HIV sales increased 18 percent to 6.2 billion US dollars.
Gilead Sciences stock traded at 152.57 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:15 CET on Friday, October 30, 2026, 5.45 percent above the Xetra close of 144.68 euros on Thursday, October 29. Investors were assessing the earnings release issued after the previous US market close, although the reported operating figures and the market move are separate observations.
HIV franchise drives expansion
Total product sales increased 13 percent to 8.3 billion US dollars from the year-earlier quarter. Biktarvy sales rose 10 percent to 4.1 billion US dollars, while Descovy sales advanced 49 percent to 1.0 billion US dollars. Gilead attributed the broader HIV increase to higher demand, higher average realized prices and favorable inventory dynamics.
Growth extended into other businesses. Trodelvy sales increased 42 percent to 506 million US dollars, and the liver disease portfolio grew 13 percent to 927 million US dollars. Livdelzi was a key contributor, according to the company. These gains were partly offset by a 69 percent decline in Veklury sales to 86 million US dollars and an 18 percent drop in cell therapy sales to 355 million US dollars.
Guidance rises despite acquisition costs
Gilead now expects 2026 product sales of 31.0 billion to 31.3 billion US dollars, compared with its previous range of 30.1 billion to 30.4 billion US dollars. Product sales excluding Veklury are expected at 30.7 billion to 31.0 billion US dollars, up from 29.8 billion to 30.1 billion US dollars previously. The company kept its Veklury expectation near 300 million US dollars.
Management also updated its earnings outlook. Full-year non-GAAP diluted loss per share is now expected at 1.20 to 0.85 US dollars, compared with a previous range of 0.65 to 0.30 US dollars. Gilead said the guidance includes the effect of acquired in-process research and development charges tied to this year's acquisitions. That distinction is important because quarterly non-GAAP diluted earnings per share increased to 2.55 US dollars from 2.47 US dollars, while GAAP diluted earnings per share fell to 1.94 US dollars from 2.43 US dollars.
Chief Executive Daniel O'Day said the company delivered its strongest year-over-year base-business growth in more than a decade. The release said the increase in full-year base-business revenue guidance since the start of 2026 totals 1.6 billion US dollars.
Cash flow supports shareholder returns
Gilead generated 5.0 billion US dollars in operating cash flow during the quarter. It paid 1.0 billion US dollars in dividends and repurchased 370 million US dollars of common stock. The board also declared a quarterly dividend of 0.82 US dollars per share, payable on December 30 to shareholders of record on December 15.
