Honeywell stock enters Friday after the automation company raised its 2026 outlook on stronger third-quarter execution. Margin gains support the standalone strategy.

Profitability and guidance move higher

  • Honeywell Technologies delivered broad-based organic growth across its automation businesses in the third quarter.
  • Management lifted its full-year sales, adjusted earnings and free cash flow outlook after stronger execution.
  • Higher margins and backlog conversion remain central to the investment case for the standalone automation company.

Honeywell Technologies raised its full-year 2026 outlook on October 22 after reporting stronger-than-expected profitability in its first quarter as a standalone automation company. The company reported third-quarter sales of 5.0 billion US dollars, up 1% on a reported basis and 7% organically, according to its Honeywell Technologies release.

Adjusted earnings per share rose 34% year over year to 2.27 US dollars. Reported earnings per share fell 20% to 2.40 US dollars because the prior-year period included a one-time gain from the Resideo termination agreement. That distinction matters for investors: the adjusted measure captures the improvement in the continuing operation, while the reported figure reflects the comparison effect from the earlier item.

Automation segments set the pace

Growth was broad-based, although the individual businesses developed differently. Building Automation sales increased 8% organically, supported by fire and security products and continued strength in services. Process Automation and Technology also grew 8% organically, with project sales benefiting from LNG and petrochemical activity and aftermarket demand led by refining catalysts.

Industrial Automation posted 4% organic growth. Solutions and industrial measurement supported the segment, while utility meter deployment delays weighed on products. Segment profit increased 23% overall, and segment margin expanded 370 basis points to 21.3%. Management attributed the improvement to productivity, pricing actions and the elimination of stranded costs linked to earlier spin-offs and divestitures.

Higher targets raise the bar

Honeywell now expects 2026 sales of 20.0 billion to 20.1 billion US dollars, compared with its previous range of 19.8 billion to 20.0 billion US dollars. The company lifted its organic growth forecast to 4% to 5% from 3% to 4% and raised adjusted earnings guidance to 8.40 to 8.45 US dollars per share from 8.05 to 8.35 US dollars.

Free cash flow guidance increased to approximately 2.1 billion US dollars from approximately 2.0 billion US dollars. Management also expects full-year segment margin at approximately 20.5%, the upper end of the previous range, while fourth-quarter organic growth is expected to reach 5% to 6%. Chief Executive Officer Vimal Kapur said the performance and momentum across the portfolio supported the higher outlook and the company's longer-term 2029 targets.

Honeywell stock traded at 199.76 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:36 Berlin time on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The real-time quote of Honeywell stock provides the latest trading indication. For investors, the key issue is whether backlog conversion, pricing and cost reductions can sustain margin expansion after the aerospace separation. The absence of a recurring one-time gain in the comparison should also make underlying earnings trends easier to assess in coming quarters.

The broader US market can be followed in the S&P 500 market overview.

Further execution in the fourth quarter, including project backlog conversion and demand in Building Automation, will be the next major test. More news and analyses on Honeywell stock remain relevant as the company works toward its revised full-year targets.
