- Analysts expect lower third-quarter operating profit as jet-fuel costs rise.
- IAG is using higher fares and fuel hedges to limit the pressure on profitability.
- The upcoming results will test demand, capacity and cost control after the summer travel period.
International Consolidated Airlines Group is heading into its third-quarter update with a weaker profit outlook and higher fuel costs in focus. TradingView News reported on Monday, November 2, that analysts expect third-quarter operating profit of 1.81 billion euros, down from 2.08 billion euros a year earlier.
The report puts average jet-fuel prices at 196.70 US dollars per barrel, up 6.6 percent from the previous month and about 120 percent from a year earlier. IAG has raised fares across its brands and uses fuel hedges to limit part of the cost exposure.
Margins Face A Near-Term Test
The November 6 results will give investors a new view of demand, capacity, operating costs and profitability after the summer travel period. Management commentary on fares, fuel protection and the outlook for the rest of 2026 may be as important as the reported quarter.
The new forecast adds a direct profitability test to the issues already in view before the release. Stronger fares and hedging could cushion the fuel shock, while a weaker operating result would increase attention on capacity discipline and cost control.
IAG stock traded at 5.01 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:30 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. The real-time quote of IAG stock is available through the market snapshot.
The report from TradingView News also highlights the importance of the earnings release for the near-term investment case. Investors will be watching whether pricing power and fuel protection can preserve margins without weakening demand.
