International Airlines Group selected OpenAirlines' SkyBreathe platform to strengthen fuel-efficiency management across its airlines, Hosteltur reported on September 30, 2026. The deployment covers Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, LEVEL and Vueling, giving the group a common framework for monitoring fuel use across a fleet of more than 600 aircraft.
Since the latest relevant report, IAG stock moved from 4.91 euros at 10:09 CET on Friday, October 30, to 4.86 euros at 16:10 CET the same day, a decline of 1.02 percent. The newer quote was recorded at Lang & Schwarz.
One platform for five airlines
SkyBreathe analyzes flight plans, weather conditions and aircraft performance to identify opportunities to reduce fuel consumption. Hosteltur said the system is intended to replace fragmented monitoring with a common data and reporting framework, allowing IAG airlines to compare efficiency measures more consistently and share initiatives that deliver results.
The rollout builds on existing use at Aer Lingus, Iberia, LEVEL and Vueling. British Airways is expected to complete its implementation in the coming months, according to Hosteltur. The publication also reported that IAG regards fuel as one of the largest costs for its airlines, making operational efficiency relevant to margins when jet-fuel prices are volatile.
For investors, the initiative offers a group-wide efficiency lever, but the cited announcement does not quantify expected fuel savings, implementation costs or a timetable for measurable financial benefits. The next financial update will therefore remain important for assessing whether operational measures are translating into earnings.
