Jungheinrich has expanded its electric forklift portfolio with the start of customer sales for the new EFG 5 series on Sunday, November 1, 2026. In its company release, Jungheinrich said the new electric counterbalance trucks are designed for heavy-duty applications and offer load capacities from 4.0 to 5.0 tonnes.
Heavy-duty electric range broadens
The EFG 5 completes the upper end of Jungheinrich's heavy-truck portfolio. The company is targeting industrial users in sectors such as building materials, beverages and automotive manufacturing, where combustion-engine forklifts remain common. Customers can choose lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries and different equipment configurations.
Jungheinrich says redesigned drive and lift technology can deliver up to 15 percent higher handling performance. The company also highlights improved visibility, ergonomics and configurable assistance systems, including optional AI-supported person recognition. Product Manager Phillipp Brandl described the series as a fully electric solution for applications that have traditionally relied on diesel forklifts.
The sales launch follows the October production start of the EFG 2/2i and EFG 3/3i electric counterbalance trucks at Jungheinrich's Moosburg plant. The first EFG 320i left the production line on October 26. The 2/2i models cover capacities from 1.4 to 2.0 tonnes, while the 3/3i range covers 1.6 to 2.0 tonnes.

Demand, order intake and margins remain the key factors for assessing whether the broader portfolio translates into financial growth.
