- Analysts reduced their 2027 statutory EPS forecast after KION's third-quarter update.
- Operating profit improved, but weaker Industrial Trucks and Services orders remain a key risk.
- KION will outline its new segment structure and IFRS 18 effects on November 5.
KION Group's third-quarter update brought a mixed message for investors: operating profit improved, but analysts lowered their 2027 earnings expectations. A Simply Wall St analysis published on November 2 said 14 analysts now expect statutory EPS of 3.49 euros for 2027, down from 3.56 euros previously. The consensus price target remained at 49.40 euros.
Operating Gains Meet Uneven Demand
KION reported third-quarter revenue of 2.83 billion euros, up 4.8 percent year on year. EBIT rose 3.7 percent to 184.2 million euros, while adjusted EBIT gained 6.5 percent to 202.9 million euros. Net income fell 14.8 percent to 101.6 million euros as the tax charge increased.
Intelligent Automation Solutions provided the stronger operating contribution, helping offset weaker earnings momentum in Industrial Trucks and Services. KION said order intake in the latter segment missed expectations, particularly in parts of Europe.
For the first nine months, revenue reached 8.52 billion euros, up 3.9 percent. Adjusted EBIT increased 9.9 percent to 632.5 million euros, lifting the adjusted margin to 7.4 percent from 7.0 percent. The prior-year comparison benefited from one-off efficiency-program costs in 2025.
Reporting Reset Comes Next
KION's revised 2026 outlook calls for group revenue of 11.45 billion to 11.75 billion euros and adjusted EBIT of 815 million to 875 million euros. The targets mainly reflect weaker order intake in Industrial Trucks and Services, while the automation division's ranges were narrowed rather than broadly cut.
The next scheduled investor event is a teach-in on Thursday, November 5, covering KION's new segment structure and the effects of IFRS 18. Most leasing activities are planned to move into a separate Financial Services segment from the first quarter of 2027, with the new reporting structure due to begin with first-quarter 2027 results.
Since the earlier report at 12:06 CET, the Lang & Schwarz quote has risen from 34.63 euros to 35.06 euros at 17:48 CET on Wednesday, November 4, a gain of 1.24 percent.
