- Kioxia reported record July-September revenue and operating profit as AI data-center demand lifted NAND prices.
- The October-December operating-profit outlook trails consensus after NAND price growth slowed from the previous quarter.
- Investors will focus on storage demand, pricing momentum and the effect of exchange rates on the next quarter.
Kioxia Holdings delivered a record July-September quarter, but its October-December outlook points to a slower profit trajectory. Bloomberg reported on Friday, October 30, that the company expects operating profit of about 2 trillion yen in the current quarter, below the 2.35 trillion yen consensus cited in the report.
At Lang & Schwarz, Kioxia stock traded at 68.85 euros at 15:28 Berlin time on Friday, October 30. Compared with the 77.23-euro quote in the latest relevant own report at 09:20 Berlin time the same day, the price was 10.85 percent lower; this comparison is separate from the daily Xetra benchmark.
Record quarter, slower price momentum
Kioxia reported July-September revenue of 2.48 trillion yen and operating profit of 1.9947 trillion yen, according to the latest market coverage. Bloomberg said the result was driven by strong AI-related demand for flash memory and data-center storage.
The pricing backdrop is becoming less supportive at the margin. Bloomberg reported that NAND flash average selling prices rose by a mid-20 percent range in the July-September period, compared with a 70 percent increase in the previous quarter. Prices are still moving higher, but the pace of improvement has slowed sharply.
Guidance puts the cycle to the test
The new outlook implies that Kioxia expects the next quarter to remain broadly close to the record level just reported rather than extend the same acceleration. The company continues to see strong data-center demand, while exchange-rate effects are expected to weigh on revenue and profit.
For investors, the key issue is whether enterprise storage demand can offset moderating NAND price gains. Kioxia's earnings base has expanded rapidly, raising the importance of long-term customer commitments, shipment growth and pricing discipline in the next update.
