Krones reported improved profitability and stronger orders for the first nine months of 2026, while revenue remained broadly stable. In its investor release dated Friday, November 6, the packaging and bottling equipment maker said order intake rose 2.9% year on year to EUR 4.2236 billion.

Orders and profit improved

Revenue for the January-to-September period was EUR 4.0997 billion, compared with EUR 4.1074 billion a year earlier. Adjusted for currency translation effects, revenue increased 0.8%. The order backlog rose 3.0% to EUR 4.3143 billion at the end of September, although Krones said some orders are not expected to become revenue until the end of 2027 or later.

EBITDA increased 5.2% to EUR 453.1 million, lifting the reported EBITDA margin to 11.1% from 10.5%. Around EUR 10 million of positive earnings impact came from US tariff refunds. Excluding that effect, the margin was 10.8%. Net income rose 2.7% to EUR 219.5 million, equivalent to earnings per share of EUR 6.94.

Growth guidance remains the key risk

Krones expects currency-adjusted revenue growth of 1% to 2% in 2026, down from the previous 3% to 5% range. The company cited geopolitical uncertainty, higher customer costs and broader economic risks as factors affecting fourth-quarter growth. It nevertheless retained its full-year EBITDA margin target of 10.7% to 11.1% and its ROCE target of 19% to 20%.

The medium-term outlook is also more restrained. Krones now targets 2028 revenue of EUR 6.0 billion to EUR 6.2 billion, compared with approximately EUR 7 billion previously, while its 2028 EBITDA margin target is 11% to 12%.
