- Lam Research delivered record September-quarter revenue as AI, memory and advanced semiconductor demand supported equipment orders.
- Management expects December-quarter revenue of 8.60 billion US dollars, but supply constraints could defer some shipments into March.
- The annual shareholder meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, keeping board matters and execution capacity in focus.
Lam Research enters the week of its annual shareholder meeting with demand for semiconductor processing equipment still strong, while supply capacity has become the key near-term investor question. The company reported record revenue for the quarter ended September 27, 2026, and management warned that some December-quarter shipments could move into March.
Yahoo Finance reported on October 22 that Lam Research generated 8.22 billion US dollars of fiscal first-quarter 2027 revenue, while adjusted earnings per share reached 2.20 US dollars. Chief Executive Tim Archer credited artificial-intelligence demand and rising device complexity with supporting the record quarter.
Supply Constraints Limit Near-Term Upside
Chief Financial Officer Doug Bettinger said the December-quarter revenue outlook would have been higher without near-term supply chain constraints. Lam Research expects revenue of 8.60 billion US dollars, plus or minus 400 million US dollars, and adjusted earnings per share of 2.33 US dollars, plus or minus 0.15 US dollars.
The warning points to an execution issue rather than a lack of orders. Bettinger said some equipment could be shipped in the March quarter instead of December, although management did not quantify the potential revenue impact. Archer compared the current tightness with the shortages during the pandemic but said the situation was materially less severe and should ease relatively quickly.
The company also expects adjusted operating margin of 40.5 percent, plus or minus one percentage point, for the December quarter. China accounted for 35 percent of September-quarter revenue, and management expects its contribution to fall significantly in the December period.
Memory Demand Supports Longer Outlook
Memory applications represented 46 percent of September-quarter systems revenue. Memory systems revenue reached a record level and rose 120 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to the earnings-call summary reported by Yahoo Finance. NAND revenue also gained sequentially as customers continued preparing for higher-layer devices.
Lam Research expects calendar-year 2027 wafer-fabrication-equipment spending to exceed 200 billion US dollars, compared with a mid-150-billion-dollar range for 2026. That outlook supports the longer-term growth case, but the conversion of customer demand into shipments depends on suppliers, clean-room availability and the timing of new fabs.
The annual shareholder meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, according to Simply Wall St. Investors are likely to focus on board matters as well as the companys ability to expand delivery capacity without sacrificing its recent margin performance.
