LSE Group (ISIN GB00B0SWJX34) was trading at EUR 112.68 at Lang & Schwarz on October 23, 2026 at 10:44 a.m. CEST. On October 22, 2026, the company agreed to acquire Octus for USD 3.535 billion, while its third-quarter update showed 8.8 percent organic growth in total income excluding recoveries, according to LSEG.
Octus expands private credit data
The acquisition gives LSEG a larger position in private, illiquid and distressed credit data. Octus is expected to generate more than USD 300 million in revenue during 2026 and carries an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 40 percent, according to LSEG.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval. LSEG said Octus will join its Data and Analytics division, combining proprietary credit content with LSEG distribution, analytics and workflow products.
What does Q3 growth mean?
The operating figures point to broad-based expansion rather than a single division carrying the update. Markets income rose 12.5 percent organically in the third quarter, FTSE Russell grew 10.2 percent, Risk Intelligence increased 9.8 percent and Data and Analytics advanced 5.2 percent.
Subscription businesses grew 6.6 percent in the third quarter, compared with 6.3 percent in the first half of 2026. LSEG raised full-year organic constant-currency income growth guidance to at least 8.0 percent from 7.0 percent to 7.5 percent, lifted EBITDA margin expansion guidance to 100 to 120 basis points and increased equity free cash flow guidance to at least GBP 2.8 billion from GBP 2.7 billion, according to LSEG.
Dates for the next phase
The Octus transaction is the central date for investors, with completion expected in the first half of 2027. LSEG also scheduled a Digital Markets webinar for December 9, 2026, according to its October 22, 2026 trading update.
Stock price and investor view
The combination of higher guidance and a large credit-data acquisition gives the update two distinct dimensions: near-term operating momentum and a longer-term expansion of LSEG's data platform. The key question is whether the planned deal can add growth while the group manages leverage and completes its existing buyback program.
