Lufthansa has launched a nonstop Kuala Lumpur-Frankfurt service, expanding its Southeast Asian network and adding a new connection through its Frankfurt hub. The German airline announced the launch on October 26, 2026, in a Lufthansa newsroom release.
New route strengthens Southeast Asia
The service initially operates five days a week on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 287 seats across three travel classes. Kuala Lumpur becomes Lufthansa's fourth destination in Southeast Asia after Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket.
The flight schedule is built around the carrier's Frankfurt hub. Flight LH705 leaves Kuala Lumpur at 11:55 p.m. and arrives in Frankfurt at 6:00 a.m. the following day. The return service, LH704, departs Frankfurt at 9:30 p.m. and reaches Kuala Lumpur at 4:40 p.m. the next day.
The route gives passengers from Malaysia onward connections across Europe, North America and other international markets. Lufthansa said the connection also supports travel between Malaysia and Germany, where more than 700 German companies operate.
Allegris adds premium capacity
The Boeing 787-9 on the route features Lufthansa's Allegris cabin, the group's latest long-haul product. The company describes the aircraft as part of its broader expansion of premium long-haul services during the Winter 2026 schedule.
Frank Naeve, Lufthansa Group's senior vice president for global sales, said the service strengthens links between Malaysia and Europe while bringing the airline's latest long-haul aircraft and cabin product to the market. Malaysia's tourism minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the connection should improve access to Germany and the wider European market.
