LVMH stock weighs China weakness against third-quarter growth

- Revenue reached 57.148 billion euros in the first nine months of 2026, with organic growth of 2 percent.
- Fashion and Leather Goods remained the main weakness, while Watches and Jewelry and Selective Retailing delivered stronger organic growth.
- Management expects its brands and retail network to support the group through an uncertain economic and geopolitical environment.
LVMH reported modest third-quarter growth on October 12, 2026, as weaker Chinese demand weighed on its largest business while the United States, Europe and Japan provided support. In its official revenue release, the luxury group said organic revenue rose 1 percent in the third quarter.
Growth stays positive but uneven
Third-quarter revenue reached 18.504 billion euros, compared with 18.280 billion euros a year earlier. For the first nine months, revenue stood at 57.148 billion euros versus 58.090 billion euros in the prior-year period. Reported revenue declined 2 percent, while organic growth reached 2 percent. Changes in consolidation scope reduced the nine-month comparison by 1 percent and currency movements by 3 percent.
LVMH said third-quarter activity reflected a less buoyant environment in China, whereas the United States, Europe and Japan recorded good growth. The figures therefore point to resilient underlying demand in several markets but limited momentum in a key region for global luxury spending.
Fashion division remains the weak spot
Fashion and Leather Goods generated 8.245 billion euros in third-quarter revenue, down from 8.497 billion euros a year earlier. Organic revenue fell 5 percent, and nine-month revenue declined 4 percent on a reported basis to 26.391 billion euros. LVMH attributed the quarterly pressure to slower demand in China, even as the division continued to benefit from a buoyant US market.
Other business groups offered a counterweight. Wines and Spirits posted 6 percent organic growth in the quarter, Watches and Jewelry also grew 6 percent, and Selective Retailing advanced 8 percent. Over the first nine months, Watches and Jewelry increased 8 percent organically and Selective Retailing rose 6 percent, while Perfumes and Cosmetics remained stable on an organic basis.
Management keeps long-term focus
LVMH said it remains confident despite an uncertain economic and geopolitical environment. The group plans to reinforce its global luxury position in 2026 by emphasizing brand desirability, product quality, retail excellence and organizational agility. The statement offers no formal numerical sales target, leaving regional demand trends and the performance of Fashion and Leather Goods as key points for investors to monitor.
