MediaTek has hired former Intel executive Navid Shahriari as a senior vice president, adding semiconductor design and advanced-packaging experience as the chipmaker broadens its artificial-intelligence and data-center business. Taiwan News reported the appointment on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
A senior role across key technologies
Shahriari is scheduled to join MediaTek on Monday, November 9, and will report to President and Chief Operating Officer Chen Kuan-chou. His responsibilities will cover advanced manufacturing processes, chip design and process integration.
The appointment also includes closer cooperation with major supply-chain partners and the integration of advanced technologies into MediaTek's products. For investors, the move points to execution capacity as the company seeks to build businesses beyond its established smartphone-chip base.
AI accelerator growth raises stakes
MediaTek expects its data-center AI accelerator application-specific integrated circuits to generate NT$82.32 billion in fourth-quarter revenue, according to the report. The company projects revenue from these products of about NT$526.88 billion next year and an estimated 20 percent market share.
Those targets give the new executive's remit a direct link to one of MediaTek's most important growth initiatives. The opportunity is significant, but delivery will depend on customer adoption, manufacturing execution and cooperation across the semiconductor supply chain.
