Midea stock enters the results aftermath with stronger headline profit but weaker quarterly sales. Newer business lines partly offset softer appliance demand.

Profit growth meets weaker sales

  • Midea's third-quarter profit increased despite lower revenue.
  • Foreign-exchange effects and nonrecurring derivative gains affected adjusted earnings.
  • Building technology and robotics provided growth outside the core appliance business.

Midea reported stronger headline earnings for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, even as sales declined. City News Service said on Friday, October 30, that profit attributable to shareholders reached RMB 15 billion in the quarter, up 26 percent year over year, while revenue fell 4.1 percent to RMB 107 billion.

The earnings mix was less favorable beneath the headline. Profit excluding one-time items declined 16 percent to RMB 9.2 billion. Midea attributed the gap mainly to foreign-exchange losses from translating overseas earnings into yuan, while related derivative gains were treated as nonrecurring and excluded from adjusted profit.

Industrial businesses soften appliance pressure

Midea's first nine months showed a more balanced picture. Net profit rose 9.3 percent to RMB 41 billion, while revenue increased 1.2 percent to RMB 367 billion. Building technology and robotics and automation each grew revenue by 10 percent over the period, whereas industrial technology revenue declined 13 percent.

The operating backdrop also improved in one important respect. Morningstar reported that third-quarter operating margin improved to 12.7 percent from 12.4 percent a year earlier, supported by lower marketing and research costs. The result points to resilience in newer businesses, but weaker domestic appliance demand remains a pressure point.

What changed for the stock

Midea stock traded at 11.03 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 3:12 p.m. CET on Friday, October 30, 2026. That is 3.57 percent above the 10.65-euro quote in the October 27 report, a separate comparison from any Xetra closing-price movement.
