Mitsui & Co. raised its full-year profit forecast after reporting stronger first-half results for the six months ended September 30, 2026. The company kept its dividend outlook unchanged, while cash generation weakened.
The results were released on Wednesday, November 4. Mitsui's investor-relations page lists the six-month financial results and the November 6 meeting for analysts and institutional investors.
Higher forecast after strong first half
Profit attributable to owners of the parent rose to 574.862 billion yen from 423.733 billion yen a year earlier. Revenue increased to 8.322 trillion yen from 6.759 trillion yen, while profit before income taxes reached 709.539 billion yen, compared with 546.636 billion yen in the prior-year period.
Mitsui lifted its full-year profit forecast to 1.05 trillion yen from 920 billion yen for the year ending March 31, 2027. The company also raised its forecast for profit before income taxes to 1.37 trillion yen from 1.22 trillion yen, reflecting higher expectations for gross profit and equity-method earnings.
Cash flow tempers earnings strength
Operating cash flow fell to 223.4 billion yen from 428.7 billion yen in the comparable period. Mitsui attributed the decline mainly to higher working capital, including increased trade receivables. Free cash flow decreased to 23.4 billion yen from 187.6 billion yen, although Core Operating Cash Flow rose to 511.6 billion yen from 448.5 billion yen.
For investors, the combination of higher earnings and weaker cash conversion puts the quality and durability of the profit increase in focus. Mitsui maintained its full-year dividend forecast at 140 yen per share, including interim and year-end payments of 70 yen each.
